Due to the crystalline microstructure of steel, some carbon atoms penetrate the alloy reaching areas where the iron atoms are free. Hence, the carbon atoms bind themselves to the iron in the Mild Steel Round Bar creating a border effect. And so the border becomes hard giving the bar an improvement of its durability.
